ZBra

Plastic surgery garments: A wide variety of cosmetic surgery procedures require scientifically calibrated pressure therapy. For example, in the case of liposuction, there is formation of post-operative edema; an effect called “waves” that may also appear. In these cases a calculated compression is necessary to minimize the effects while allowing all muscular movement.

Liposuction garments

Plastic surgery garments – Medical Z offer a large array of garments available in different sizes as well as two different fabrics: CoolMax and standard line both giving the required pressure for post surgical procedures.  CoolMax is a revolutionary fabric that is more breathable and comfortable than any other garment available today. It is embedded with a moisture management system that pulls moisture to the outer layer of fabric and dries quickly. The fabric is specifically engineered with a four channel fiber system that allows air to easily permeate the garment. CoolMax fabric is ideal for post operative garments since these garments are recommended to be worn 6 to 8 weeks immediately following the surgery.

CoolMax technology

Custom burns garments:Medical Z’s custom made burn garments are made up of the most cost effective fabric that lasts and are compatible with oils and lotions. The customised pressure garments made especially for burn victims are lighter, cooler and smoother. Medical Z understand that no two patients are alike  so have developed their range to offer custom garment choices that fit every patients needs maximising comfort.

Scar management gels: Medigel Z Technology.
Various studies have shown the effectiveness of polymers to prevent the formation of scars. Medigel is a combination of triblock co-polymer and H1 Class mineral oil. Originally devised for the treatment of scars for burn victims, Medigel now has a wider range of usage for surgeries that includes aesthetics, orthopedics and podiatry. Utilizing the same technology used for Medigel Z, The Medipatch Gel Z was introduced. One of the advantage of is self-adhesiveness for repetitive applications. In addition to it’s scar treatment properties.

We start 2012 in fine form having had a good year in 2011 even though we have been competing in a tough and changing market. We have had to re-shape ourselves as our customer base and customer requirements have been changing almost constantly for the last 12 to 18 months.

This ability to be flexible and to alter our product mix has helped us tremendously during this period and we are now well placed to take full advantage of the way that patient and customer services in our main dermatology market are looking to deliver new and improved services.

We have again been approached by a number of manufacturers who are looking for Schuco to be their UK and Ireland distributor. The fact that we are now regularly being sought after to be a delivery partner speaks volumes for our approach to  products, manufacturers, customers, patients , networking and stakeholder management.

Whilst we accept that 2012 will present us with big challenges, we feel that we have already shaped our business strategy to be able to deliver better products and services this year to our customers, old and new. We are branching out into a number of new market areas and have some exciting new products to introduce during the year. You’ll need to keep your eye on our website, contact your account manager or get hold of the Edition 56 Catalogue, when it’s launched, to see what’s happening!

Students who have graduated from the popular Cardiff Practical Dermatology Course are invited to attend the meeting which features key speakers on topics such as psoriasis, dermatology surgery, dermoscopy and pigmented skin as well as an exhibition hall for pharmaceutical and specialist skin equipment products. Both the meeting and course grow in popularity each year and this year was no exception!

Schuco were pleased to launch some exclusive new products at the event including the Schuco Cryospray, Dermoscopy the Essentials: Second Edition and the newly refined DL3 dermatoscope. All of which received a welcome introduction.

At the event Schuco celebrated the world’s leading digital imaging specialists FotoFinder’s 20th anniversary by running a free prize draw to win a handyscope that allows you to turn your iPhone into a digital dermatoscope. The draw proved immensely popular with over 165 entries on the Friday afternoon before the live draw at the Presidents Dinner that evening. The second prize was a copy of Dermoscopy the Essentials: Second edition and the ever popular Schuco Bear.

Emergency and Military Tourniquet evaluation

In an evaluation of two tourniquet systems for the control of prehospital lower limb hemorrhage conducted by The journal of trauma injury, infection and critical care (September 2011 publication) the Emergency and Military tourniquet (EMT) manufactured by Delfi Medical proved more successful against its competitor the Combat Application Tourniquet (CAT) in the control of arterial blood flow when applied mid-thigh.

The Emergency and Military Tourniquet

The article states that hemorrhage remains the main cause of preventable death on the modern-day battlefield. More powerful Improvised Explosive Devices (or IED’s as they are more commonly known) have accounted for approximately one-third of all coalition deaths since the war in Afghanistan began and are responsible for a dramatic increase in proximal limb injuries. As a result all serving British and American soldiers serving in Afghanistan were issued with CAT windlass tourniquets for application to themselves or an injured comrade immediately after a traumatic limb injury.

The detailed evaluation concludes that the CAT tourniquet is ineffective in controlling arterial blood flow when applied a mid-thigh level. The EMT was successful in a significantly larger number of participants.
