Schuco well received at RAF Cranwell

Schuco attended the Combined Services Plastic Surgery Society (CSPSS) annual meeting held at the historic RAF Cranwell in Lincolnshire. RAF Cranwell is a busy, multi-functioning station best known as the RAF College, which provides initial officer training. On the 4th October it also welcomed medical officers from all of the armed forces with an aim to share and discuss their experiences as well as new technologies in the medical industry.

Schuco, although attending the CSPSS for the first time, have a long history of working with the Ministry of Defence and the delegates attending were glad to meet with our representatives to see our entire product portfolio.

As usual there was a lot of interest in our range of dermatoscopes. A large part of our troops deployments around the world are for extended times in extreme climates, resulting in sustained periods of exposure to the elements. The EMT Tourniquet (Emergency Military Tourniquet) which performed so well in a clinical paper by Colonel Parker last year received a lot of interest from all who visited the Schuco stand. Its compact size, robust design and proven efficacy drew a lot of praise.

However, it was one of our newest products that stirred the most interest – RegenPRP. Many attending doctors, surgeons and nurses tested our representatives’ knowledge on the product particulary regarding potential applications for the armed forces. Schuco’s Anthony Hubbard was kept busy answering questions and showing pre and post treatment images to all interested professionals.

Schuco had a very successful first visit to the CSPSS and would like to thank Colonel Tania Cubison and her secretary Nicky for organising and running such a wonderful meeting. As always Schuco Bear made a lot of new friends and is looking forward to reuniting with them all at next year’s event.

RegenLab Distributor Seminar, Venice, 24th September 2012

Image

The Regen Lab seminar was attended by Schuco’s Chairman, Paul Huttrer and  Kirsty Dungate, Sales & Marketing manager. The seminar was the first to be held for Regen’s global distributors and was well attended with representatives from France, Spain, Germany, the middle east, Australia, New Zealand and Japan to name just a few.

The event allowed distributors to develop their knowledge of Regen Labs as well as the products and the science behind PRP and its applications in order to support the clinicians already providing the treatment as well as those considering offering it. It was also a great opportunity for distributors from across the world to share their experience as well as to discuss the increasing patient demand for the treatment and how clinicians are supported in various different continents . The event was – as described by Antoine Turzi, Regen Lab , CEO – an “important and symbolic event”.

Regen have some exciting new products that are about to be launched, details coming soon!

The Real Planet of the Apes!

Saturday 22nd of September saw Schuco Bear meeting with fellow employees Matthew Birt and Giles Cuddy and limbering up for the start of the 9th annual London Gorilla Race in London. A 9 kilometre road race past some of the most iconic sites that London has to offer, dressed in a gorilla suit… Raising over £800 between them to help save the last 700 mountain gorillas in the wild. Matthew and Giles now had to come good on their promise to complete the race dressed in their gorilla outfits and it wasn’t going to be easy.

To keep things interesting both Matthew and Giles had decided to compliment their Gorilla suits with some extra clothing, after all you can’t have naked gorillas running around London!

Matthew made for the best dressed gorilla very literally indeed, complementing his gorilla garb with a bowler hat, neck tie and a very dashing moustache. Giles, finding it hard to separate from his passion for lacrosse, just threw his kit on top of his gorilla costume. Suitably attired and ready to go they headed to the start line with the 400 other competitors, some of whom had also accessorised. There were gorillas in bikinis, hippy gorillas, rock star gorillas and even an Abe Lincoln gorilla!

The sunny weather meant that even at the start line the competitors were getting a bit of a sweat on, the 9km started to seem a little daunting. However they both managed to complete the race in respectable times, Matthew after 48 minutes, Giles finishing with a time of 56 minutes. Plans have already begun to enter a larger team next year and take home the award for best dressed gorilla.

Schuco Bear was happy to hitch a ride round the course with Matthew and Giles and is already looking forward to next year!

Schuco hold mole-screening event for Essex PCT…

Venue: Westcliff-On-Sea, Essex

Attendees: Local GPs and Nurses

Schuco and Essex PCT launched the Mole Screening Service for Southend CCG on the 5th September at Westcliff-on-sea.  Southend CCG have purchased their second MoleMate machine and are aiming to role out the service across the local community.  Dr Adrian Heggarty, Consultant Dermatologist, who was involved in the creation of the MoleMate technology gave an excellent talk to the GPs on melanoma, the incidence and the value of screening patients. The attending GPs where most impressed with the talk and the MoleMate technology, and were surprised by the statistics around Melanoma and the increased incidence over the last 50 years.  The group agreed that Mole Screening was extremely useful as part of the Dermatology pathway and look forward to aiding the early detection of skin cancer and reducing the increasing number of deaths attributed to the disease.

PCTA – Birmingham 2012

Image

The Autumn PCTA (Primary Care Training Academy) event held at the MalMaison hotel in Birmingham was another extremely popular and well-run event. The two day course led by Mr Sultan Hassan and his team of surgeons, trained primary care clinical professionals in the skills required for minor surgery by both theory and practical workshops. Following the course, delegates are always encouraged by the level of progression they make from their initial assessment on the first day to the final assessment at lunchtime on the Sunday, regardless of their previous experience and skill set.

Ps and nurses come from all over the UK to attend the PCTA which Schuco are proud to be a part of. At the event Schuco held a very popular Hyfrecator 2000 demonstration and showcased the range of dermatoscopes and minor surgery instruments we offer. Particular interest was shown in the Stiefel Punches and Curettes, EPIGLU and the Fast Facts Minor Surgery book, as always the seco0nd edition Dermoscopy: The Essentials

Schuco have been supporting Mr Hassan and his team at the PCTA for over two years now and the feedback received from delegates has always been positive with comments of “really informative,” “good trainer to trainee ratios of 4:1” and “a good mix of theory and practical training” being common. The next series of training events are in November, on the 23rd a Dermoscopy 1 day training event and the Minor Surgery on the 24th and 25th Schuco hope to see you there.  For more information please visit:

Introducing a robust camera adaptor for the Heine Delta 20…

Image

The Heine Delta 20 is an established dermatoscope throughout dermatology. Previously it was only possible to connect your Heine Delta 20 to an SLR camera, which can often been costly, bulky and cumbersome. But now, Schuco have invented a robust camera adaptor to directly connect your Heine Delta 20 to a Panasonic FS16 or FS18 compact digital camera.  With the help of the adaptor, the Panasonic camera captures clear, bright and essential pictures that can be stored against a patient record for reference and follow up.

The adapter is firmly attached to the camera by its tripod mount to give a solid and stable connection. It’s custom made to fit securely to the base allowing the user to be more confident when capturing images using the Heine Delta 20.

The easy set-up allows quick and simple interchange from one to the other, allowing the user to capture images quicker and easier than before. Its robust and lightweight design make it a valuable travelling partner for any dermatologist who works at multiple locations.

RegenPRP Workshop Glasgow

RegenPRP workshop Glasgow

Schuco’s first Scottish RegenPRP workshop took place on the 23rd June at Clinetix Rejuvenation in Glasgow. Hosted by Regen’s UK clinical trainer Dr Terry Loong the workshop was open to members of the Association of Scottish Aesthetic Practitioners (ASAP). The workshop featured an interactive theory session, commercial session and a hands-on practical session for delegates to perfect the technique.

Interest in RegenPRP is growing from both a clinicians and patients across the UK. The sterility and safety of Regen’s kits is proving immensely popular, this combined with Dr Terry’s passion for the treatment as well as Schuco’s continuing plans to support clinics and their patients from initial point of interest to consultation and the actual treatment is fuelling demand for additional workshops. Before long RegenPRP will be part of everyday treatments in aesthetics clinics nationwide.

Testimonials

“The workshop provided great opportunities to ask questions which were answered in plain English that even a newbie could understand”

“Extremely informative and practical training”

“I feel confident to practice with RegenPRP after this training”
